The Chorda is an incredibly versatile instrument. In fact, it's like having multiple instruments in one! You can play the Chorda straight like a keyboard or drum machine, or pick it up and play it like a stringed instrument like a guitar or ukulele. Explore guitar, piano, drums, synthesizers, and many more styles of instruments - all in the same interface. You can mix and match your playing style and sounds to your liking, so you can play any sound in the world.
Chorda lets you play music intuitively, whether you’ve never played an instrument before or have been playing your whole life. It detects even the slightest or sharpest movements thanks to its “capacitive touch” sensors, so you can instantly express yourself and discover the music you love in new ways.

Chorda's 12 pads have the same width as piano keys, stay in tune at all times, and respond multi-dimensionally to the intensity of your finger movements. You can tap, press, spread, and vibrato just like you would a trackpad on your computer.
And Chorda has a bridge that lets you add even more expression. With this bridge, you can instantly play any sound you want, with auto-chords that always work with the music you're playing. If you can swipe on a phone screen, you can now play a guitar - or a piano, a drum kit, a tuba, or even your own voice! (more on that in a bit).

Four Play Modes: Chorda has four main play modes: Drum, Bass, Chord, and Solo. Each has unique capabilities, and there are hundreds of sounds to choose from. You can switch between these modes with the touch of a button, and load up songs as a collection of presets that play beautifully together.
Loop and Layer: With Chorda’s built-in looper, you can easily record multiple tracks and create beats and songs in seconds. Start with a fast drum beat, add a nice bass, and enjoy the music with a solo for as long as you want. Each loop can be up to 5 minutes long, so you can even make full songs to share with the world.

Chorda features a sound engine that can play any sound you can imagine, using a unique blend of synthesizers and real-world sound samples. Play instruments like electric guitars, upright pianos, string orchestras, vocals, and even custom artist beats and songs. Over 100 presets are available in the Artiphon app, with many more to come.
Chorda users can also record or import their own sounds and create unique instruments. With a button in the Artiphon app, any sound can be turned into a Chorda preset. For example, a bicycle bell, a bird singing in a tree, and your roommate's song can all be played, sampled, and shared as a musical melody.
The smart technology in our app will automatically trim and retune your sampled audio to match the key of the song you're working on.

Chorda lets you create rhythms and prolific melodies on the fly with an amazing arpisenator like no other. Since Chorda has a multitude of sensors that detect your finger movements, we designed a way to map those gestures into patterns.

We’ve worked with some of the most forward-thinking artists, like Kimbra, Venjent, and Dom McLennon, allowing you to instantly play and remix their songs on Chorda. You can hear different sections of the song (called Stems) by tapping different pads, and mix and layer your unique performance using the looper. This is the future of interactive music, where instruments are new in studios and songs are new every time they’re played.

Despite its instantly playable and minimalist design, Chorda packs some seriously impressive musical technology inside. Use Chorda to control your MIDI-based software and hardware instruments via USB-C or wireless Bluetooth MIDI. It’s compatible with GarageBand, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, FL Studio, and standard MIDI and MPE-compatible mobile apps or hardware.

Eight years ago, we launched our first product on Kickstarter, the INSTRUMENT 1, giving people a new perspective on what instruments could be and who could play them. In 2019, we returned with Orba, our little musical grapefruit, an instrument that fits in the palm of your hand. With Chorda, we’re excited to return to our Kickstarter community with our most advanced and accessible instrument yet.
Chorda shares many features with our other instruments, and includes improvements across the board. Like INSTRUMENT 1, Chorda lets you use familiar techniques like strum and tap while playing. Chorda’s capacitive touch pad is incredibly sensitive, using the same kind of technology found in your phone’s touchscreen or computer’s trackpad. Chorda’s built-in sounds mean you’re no longer tethered to a computer, bringing the dream of a portable studio right to your fingertips.
With Orba and Orba 2, we reimagined instruments as self-contained, highly portable and fun devices. Chorda continues this philosophy with a new form factor that offers even more play options. The bridge lets you strum at any time with auto-chords, and the built-in arpisenator lets you turn even the simplest movements into impressive rhythms and melodies.
