The Xkey owes its extremely low profile to a key mechanism that presses evenly wherever you press. The result is an incredibly thin keyboard that’s just 3.6mm thick (about the thickness of 36 sheets of printer paper) and remarkably playable. We can’t say this enough, this is one incredibly thin USB keyboard controller! At a staggering 0.14” thick, CME’s Xkey tops the list of fully featured 37-button controllers. You can slip this thing in your backpack or laptop bag wherever you go, and if you have an iPad in a medium-sized carrying case, the Xkey will fit comfortably next to it. The only physical thing that matters about the Xkey is its weight, at 1.32 lbs, which is plenty enough to keep it rooted well while you’re producing music.

Despite its unusual appearance, the CME Xkey is definitely not a toy full of mini keys that will never get your fingers tangled up in the right key spacing. We’re talking full-size keys housed in a precision-cut aluminum chassis to give you comfortable key separation. This includes slightly raised black keys that you can naturally play with.
Xkey’s glossy chiclet key mechanism, which ensures that every key is pressed evenly no matter where your finger lands, adds to the playability, and if you enjoy the quick response of traditional synth action, you’ll definitely appreciate the key velocity. Now top it all off with 128 levels of velocity sensitivity, polyphonic aftertouch, and unique touch-sensitive pitch and modulation controls.
Cross-compatible and designed for travel
