Philosophy
FetHEad is low noise. It is designed to enhance the sound of ribbon and dynamic microphones. The electronics are protected in a sturdy metal chassis and are equipped with a balanced 3-pole female XLR input and a balanced 3-pole male XLR output. It is suitable for use at home, in the studio, and even on tour.
There are 3 versions of FetHead.
• Fethead: Connector for ribbon and dynamic microphones
• Fethead Phantom: Connector for condenser microphones
• Fethead Filter: Model with high pass filter inside
Which microphones are used with?
In short, we saw improvements in sound across all tested microphones. For example, the Shure SM57 has a much stronger response in sound across a wide frequency range. FetHead adds significant brightness to high-end microphones such as the Sennheiser MD441 or Shure SM7.
Ribbon microphones feature a much better crossover response, with much better impedance matching, reducing the load on the microphone. FetHead's high quality low noise increases the usable range of ribbon microphones, making it easier to record soft passages.
Protects your microphone
Some ribbon microphones have poor tolerance for phantom power. The circuitry inside the FetHead protects the input and output of the microphone while using phantom power, preventing damage to your microphone.
How does it work?
Simply plug it into a balanced microphone cable and then directly into the microphone. Turn on phantom power and enjoy 20dB of clean gain.
